01 "An Act relating to the terms of members of boards and commissions that regulate                                        
02 businesses and professions and to the duties of the members of the State Board of                                       
03 Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors."                                                             
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1.  AS 08.01.035 is amended to read:                                                                     
06            Sec. 08.01.035.  Appointments and terms.  Members of boards subject to this                                
07       chapter are appointed for staggered terms of four years.  Except as provided in                                   
08       AS 39.05.080(4), a member of a board serves until a successor is appointed.  Except as                            
09       provided in AS 39.05.080(4), an appointment to fill a vacancy on a board is for the                               
10       remainder of the unexpired term.  A member who has served all [OR PART] of two                                    
11       successive terms on a board may not be reappointed to that board unless four years                                
12       have elapsed since the person has last served on the board.  For purposes of this                             
13       section, a person who serves for two years or more of a term is considered to have                            
14       served a full term.                                                                                           

01    * Sec. 2.  AS 08.48.101(a) is amended to read:                                                                     
02            (a)  The board may adopt regulations to carry out the purpose of this chapter,                               
03       including regulations                                                                                         
04                 (1)  describing the contents of an examination;                                                         
05                 (2)  establishing the conduct of an examination;                                                        
06                 (3)  establishing a minimum score for passing an examination;                                           
07                 (4)  establishing bylaws governing its meetings and activities;                                         
08                 (5)  publishing a code of ethics or professional conduct for those                                      
09       persons regulated by this chapter, including corporations, limited liability companies,                           
10       and limited liability partnerships under AS 08.48.241;                                                        
11                 (6)  establishing continuing education requirements for persons                                     
12       regulated by this chapter that must be completed before a certificate may be                                  
13       renewed.
