00 HOUSE BILL NO. 185 01 "An Act changing the name of the Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs to the 02 Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs and Homeland Security; and providing 03 for an effective date." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 06 to read: 07 PURPOSE. The purpose of this Act is to change the name of the Department of 08 Military and Veterans' Affairs to "Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs and 09 Homeland Security." 10 * Sec. 2. AS 44.17.005(9) is amended to read: 11 (9) Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs and Homeland 12 Security 13 * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 14 read:

01 REVISOR INSTRUCTION. (a) Wherever in the Alaska Statutes and the Alaska 02 Administrative Code the terms "Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs," 03 "commissioner of military and veterans' affairs," and "adjutant general of military and 04 veterans' affairs" are used, they shall be read as "Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs 05 and Homeland Security," "commissioner of military and veterans' affairs and homeland 06 security," and "adjutant general of military and veterans' affairs and homeland security" when 07 to do so would be consistent with the purpose of this Act. 08 (b) Under AS 01.05.031, the revisor of statutes shall implement this section in the 09 statutes, and, under AS 44.62.125(b)(6), the regulations attorney shall implement this section 10 in the administrative code. 11 * Sec. 4. This Act takes effect July 1, 2003.
