01 "An Act relating to community schools."                                                                                 
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section                         
04 to read:                                                                                                                
05       FINDINGS AND INTENT.  (a)  The legislature finds that community schools                                           
06            (1)  are an expression of the philosophy that the school, as the prime                                       
07 educational institution of the community, is most responsive when it involves the people of                             
08 that community in a program designed to fulfill their educational needs; and                                            
09            (2)  promote the use of school facilities through the use of buildings and                                   
10 equipment beyond the normal school day.                                                                                 
11       (b)  It is the intent of this Act to encourage local school districts to maintain                                 
12 community schools.                                                                                                      
13    * Sec. 2.  AS 14.36.010, 14.36.020, 14.36.030, 14.36.040, 14.36.050, 14.36.060, and                                
14 14.36.070 are repealed.
