01 "An Act relating to the jurisdiction of the office of victims' rights."                                                 
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 24.65.110(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
04            (a)  The victims' advocate shall assist crime victims in obtaining the rights                                
05       crime victims are guaranteed under the constitution and laws of the state with regard                             
06       to the contacts crime victims have with [THE] justice agencies [OF THE STATE].                                    
07    * Sec. 2.  AS 24.65.250(1) is amended to read:                                                                     
08                 (1)  "justice agency" means a department, office, institution,                                          
09       corporation, authority, organization, commission, committee, council, court, or board                             
10       of a municipality or in the executive or judicial branches of the state government that                       
11       is, in any manner, involved with or responsible for the apprehension, prosecution,                                
12       incarceration, or supervision of criminal or juvenile offenders; it also includes an                              
13       officer, employee, or member of an agency acting or purporting to act in the exercise                             
14       of official duties;                                                                                               
15    * Sec. 3.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to

02       APPLICABILITY.  The amendments to AS 24.65.110(a) in sec. 1 of this Act and to                                    
03 AS 24.65.250 in sec. 2 of this Act do not affect the repeal of those sections by secs. 41 and 51,                       
04 ch. 92, SLA 2001.  Sections 41 and 51, ch. 92, SLA 2001, repeal the amendments to                                       
05 AS 24.65.110(a) made in sec. 1 of this Act and to AS 24.65.250 made in sec. 2 of this Act.
