01 "An Act requiring pharmacists to include generic drug information on containers in                                      
02 which brand-name prescription drug orders are dispensed."                                                               
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 08.80 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
05            Sec. 08.80.294.  Information about equivalent generic drugs.  (a)  In                                      
06       addition to other information that may be required under state or federal laws or                                 
07       regulations, a pharmacist, when dispensing a brand-name prescription drug order, shall                            
08       include the generic drug name that is an equivalent drug product for the drug                                     
09       dispensed.                                                                                                        
10            (b)  The generic drug name required under (a) of this section shall be placed                                
11       directly on the container's label near the brand name.
