01 "An Act relating to intergovernmental agreements with the federal government                                            
02 regarding management of fish or game in the state."                                                                     
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 16.20.010 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
05            (c)  Nothing in this title authorizes the department or a board to enter into an                             
06       agreement with a department or agency of the federal government that cedes state                                  
07       authority for the management of fish or game in the state to the federal government.                              
08       In this subsection, "management" means the regulation of the method, manner, means,                               
09       time, or place of taking of fish or game or the regulation of the amount of fish or game                          
10       that may be taken.                                                                                                
11    * Sec. 2.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                         
12 read:                                                                                                                   
13       STATUS OF EXISTING AGREEMENTS REGARDING MANAGEMENT OF FISH                                                        
14 AND GAME IN THE STATE.  An agreement, or a severable portion of an agreement,                                           

01 between the Department of Fish and Game, the Board of Fisheries, or the Board of Game and                               
02 a department or agency of the federal government that was entered into before the effective                             
03 date of this Act and that cedes any state authority for the management of fish and game in the                          
04 state to the federal government, is void on and after July 1, 2004.  In this section,                                   
05 "management" has the meaning given in AS 16.20.010, added by sec. 1 of this Act.
