01 "An Act establishing an account in the general fund to receive general gifts, donations,                                
02 and bequests to the State of Alaska."                                                                                   
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section                         
05 to read:                                                                                                                
06       PURPOSE AND INTENT.  Many Alaskans have requested that the legislature enact                                      
07 taxes or otherwise increase state revenues in order to maintain state government services.  The                         
08 let me help account is intended to encourage voluntary efforts by Alaskans to support state                             
09 government services.                                                                                                    
10    * Sec. 2.  AS 37.05 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                    
11            Sec. 37.05.505.  Let me help account.  The let me help account is established                              
12       in the general fund.  Gifts, grants, and bequests made to the state for the general                               
13       operation of state government or for which no specific purpose is stated shall be                                 
14       deposited into the account.  The balance of the account is available for appropriation                            

01       by the legislature.  The balance of the account at the end of each fiscal year shall be                           
02       transferred out of the account to the general fund.
