01 "An Act relating to the Bristol Bay Salmon Classic; and providing for an effective date."                               
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 05.15.690(41) is amended to read:                                                                 
04                 (41)  "salmon classic" means a game of chance, to be operated and                                       
05       administered by the                                                                                               
06                      (A)  United Fishermen of Alaska, in which a prize of money is                                      
07            awarded for the closest guess of the total number of salmon harvested                                        
08            commercially statewide, as determined by the Department of Fish and Game,                                    
09            during a certain period of time;                                                                             
10                      (B)  Seward Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors'                                           
11            Bureau, in which prizes are awarded for the closest guess or guesses of the                                  
12            weight of the fish officially designated winner of the Seward Silver Salmon                                  
13            Derby Classic; [OR]                                                                                          
14                      (C)  Sterling Area Senior Citizens, Inc., in which a prize of                                      
15            money is awarded for the closest guess of the total number of sockeye salmon                                 

01            crossing the counter operated by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game on                                   
02            the Kenai River as of a certain day and time; or                                                         
03                      (D)  Bristol Bay Native Corporation Education Foundation,                                      
04            in which a prize of money is awarded for the closest guess of the total                                  
05            number of salmon harvested commercially in the five Bristol Bay                                          
06            commercial fishing districts between June 1 and September 30, as                                         
07            determined by the Department of Fish and Game;                                                           
08    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect January 1, 2002.
