00 SENATE BILL NO. 99 01 "An Act relating to the DNA identification registration system." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. AS 44.41.035(b) is amended to read: 04 (b) The Department of Public Safety shall collect for inclusion into the DNA 05 registration system a blood sample, oral sample, or both, from (1) a person convicted 06 of a crime against a person, [AND] (2) a person convicted of burglary or a felony 07 attempt to commit burglary, and (3) a minor 16 years of age or older, adjudicated as 08 a delinquent for an act that would be a crime against a person, a burglary, or a felony 09 attempt to commit burglary, if committed by an adult. The DNA identification 10 registration system consists of the blood or oral samples drawn under this section, any 11 DNA or other blood grouping tests done on those samples, and the identification data 12 related to the samples or tests. Blood samples and oral samples from persons not 13 subject to testing under this section, and test or identification data related to those 14 samples, may not be entered into, or made a part of, the DNA identification 15 registration system.

01 * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 02 read: 03 APPLICABILITY. Section 1 of this Act applies to all convictions and adjudications 04 as a delinquent occurring on or after the effective date of this Act.
