00 CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 9(L&C) 01 "An Act extending the termination date of the State Board of Registration for 02 Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors; relating to the temporary member of that 03 board; and providing for an effective date." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 08.03.010(c)(3) is amended to read: 06 (3) State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land 07 Surveyors (AS 08.48.011) -- June 30, 2005 [2001]; 08 * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska enacted in sec. 31, ch. 47, SLA 1998, is 09 amended to read: 10 Sec. 31. TEMPORARY BOARD MEMBER. After considering 11 recommendations made by the Alaska chapter of the American Society of Landscape 12 Architects, the governor shall appoint a landscape architect to the Board of 13 Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors. The person appointed 14 under this section

01 (1) must have been a resident in the state for three consecutive years 02 immediately preceding appointment; 03 (2) serves in an advisory, nonvoting capacity on the board; 04 (3) is [NOT] entitled to receive state money for per diem or travel 05 expenses for work as a board member; 06 (4) serves a term that expires June 30, 2005 [2001]; and 07 (5) must be registered as a landscape architect under AS 08.48 [BY 08 THE DATE DETERMINED UNDER SEC. 30 OF THIS ACT]. 09 * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 10 read: 11 TRANSITION: TEMPORARY BOARD MEMBER. The term of office of a person 12 holding a temporary position on the Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land 13 Surveyors before July 1, 2001, expires June 30, 2001. The person is eligible for 14 reappointment under sec. 2 of this Act to a term beginning July 1, 2001, so long as the 15 member continues to meet the qualifications set out in sec. 2 of this Act. The temporary 16 member may remain in the position until the governor names a new appointee or reappoints 17 the temporary member. 18 * Sec. 4. Section 3 of this Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c). 19 * Sec. 5. Sections 1 and 2 of this Act take effect July 1, 2001.
