00 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 25 01 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska relating to initiative 02 and referendum petitions. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. Article XI, sec. 3, Constitution of the State of Alaska, is amended to read: 05 Section 3. Petition. After certification of the application, a petition 06 containing a summary of the subject matter shall be prepared by the lieutenant 07 governor for circulation by the sponsors. If signed by qualified voters who are [,] 08 equal in number to at least ten per cent of those who voted in the preceding general 09 election, who are [AND] resident in at least three-fourths [TWO-THIRDS] of the 10 house districts of the State, and who, in each of those house districts, are equal in 11 number to at least seven percent of those who voted in the preceding general 12 election in the house district, it may be filed with the lieutenant governor. 13 * Sec. 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be placed before the voters of 14 the state at the next general election in conformity with art. XIII, sec. 1, Constitution of the 15 State of Alaska, and the election laws of the state.
