01 "An Act relating to annual rental fees for mining claims."                                                              
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 38.05.211 is amended by adding new subsections to read:                                           
04            (f)  A person who holds 20 or fewer placer mining claims that, when                                          
05       combined, total fewer than 800 acres is entitled to a reduced rental of two and one-half                          
06       cents an acre under this section for each placer mining claim for the first five years                            
07       after the claim was first located or until the claim commences production subject to                              
08       tax under AS 38.05.212, whichever is earlier.                                                                     
09            (g)  A person who holds 50 or fewer hardrock mining claims that, when                                        
10       combined, total fewer than 2,000 acres is entitled to a reduced rental of two and one-                            
11       half cents per acre under this section for each hardrock mining claim for the first five                          
12       years after the claim was first located or until the claim commences production subject                           
13       to tax under AS 38.05.212, whichever is earlier.
