01 "An Act relating to a new optional group of persons eligible for medical assistance who                                 
02 require treatment for breast or cervical cancer; and providing for an effective date."                                  
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 47.07.020(b) is amended by adding a new paragraph to read:                                        
05                 (15)  individuals who are not otherwise eligible for assistance under                                   
06       this chapter who                                                                                                  
07                      (A)  are under the age of 65;                                                                      
08                      (B)  have been screened for breast and cervical cancer under the                                   
09            Centers for Disease Control and Prevention breast and cervical cancer early                                  
10            detection program established under 42 U.S.C. 300k et seq. (Title XV, Public                                 
11            Health Service Act) in accordance with the requirements of 42 U.S.C. 300n                                    
12            (sec. 1504, Public Health Service Act);                                                                      
13                      (C)  need treatment for breast or cervical cancer; and                                             
14                      (D)  are not otherwise covered under creditable coverage, as                                       

01            defined in 42 U.S.C. 300gg(c) (sec. 2701(c), Public Health Service Act).                                     
02    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
