01 "An Act authorizing the commissioner of fish and game, with the concurrence of                                          
02 the Board of Fisheries or the Board of Game, to award grants to protect,                                                
03 maintain, improve, or extend fish or game resources of the state; and providing                                         
04 for an effective date."                                                                                                 
05 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
06    * Section 1.  AS 16.05 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
07  Sec. 16.05.085.  Grant authority.  The commissioner may award grants from                                           
08 federal funds, other than funds received under the federal Pittman - Robertson and                                      
09 Dingell - Johnson/Wallop - Breaux programs, for protecting, maintaining, improving,                                     
10 or extending fish or game resources of the state, including making those resources                                      
11 available for the public.  The award of a grant under this section is subject to                                        
12 concurrence by the Board of Fisheries or the Board of Game, whichever is appropriate.                                   
13 The commissioner may adopt regulations to implement or interpret this section.                                          
14    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect July 1, 2000.
