00HOUSE BILL NO. 381 01 "An Act relating to peace officer powers of employees of the Alcoholic Beverage 02 Control Board; and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new 05 section to read: 06 FINDINGS AND INTENT. (a) The legislature finds that 07 (1) proper enforcement of laws applicable to individuals who are licensed to 08 sell alcoholic beverages is critical to the health and safety of all Alaskans; 09 (2) Alcoholic Beverage Control Board enforcement powers must be carried out 10 by peace officers with appropriate investigative powers and training; 11 (3) the Alaska state troopers are capable of investigating and enforcing the 12 alcohol laws of the state. 13 (b) It is the intent of the legislature that the Department of Public Safety and 14 municipal police departments, not employees of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board,

01 enforce statutes relating to alcohol. 02 * Sec. 2. AS 04.06.110 is repealed. 03 * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect July 1, 2000.
