01 "An Act relating to disclosure of public assistance information to report suspected                                     
02 abuse or neglect of children or vulnerable adults."                                                                     
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 47.05.030 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
05  (d)  It is not a violation of (a) of this section for the department, an employee                                     
06 of the department, or a staff employee of a departmental contractor or grantee to                                       
07 disclose information concerning a person applying for or receiving public assistance                                    
08 to (1) the department's division assigned to family and youth services matters if the                                   
09 employee has reasonable cause to suspect that a child has suffered harm as a result of                                  
10 child abuse or neglect as defined in AS 47.17.290; or (2) the Department of                                             
11 Administration's central information and referral service for vulnerable adults if the                                  
12 employee has reasonable cause to believe that a vulnerable adult is suffering from                                      
13 abandonment, exploitation, abuse, neglect, or self-neglect as those terms are defined                                   
14 in AS 47.24.900.  Information provided under this subsection shall remain confidential                                  

01 and may not be further disclosed except as provided in AS 47.17 and AS 47.24.
