01 "An Act reducing the salary of legislators; and providing for an effective date."                                       
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
03    * Section 1.  AS 24.10.100 is amended to read:                                                                     
04  Sec. 24.10.100.  Salary of legislators.  The monthly salary for each member                                         
05 of the legislature is  $1,801  [$2,001].  The president of the senate and the speaker of                              
06 the house of representatives are each entitled to an additional $500 a year during                                      
07 tenure of office.                                                                                                       
08    * Sec. 2.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section                            
09 to read:                                                                                                                
10  APPLICABILITY OF SALARY REDUCTION.  The amendment to AS 24.10.100                                                      
11 made by sec. 1 of this Act applies to a legislator's salary beginning on the first day of the first                     
12 pay period that begins immediately following the effective date of this Act.                                            
13    * Sec. 3.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
