00HOUSE BILL NO. 236 01 "An Act relating to credited service in the teachers' retirement system for part- 02 time employment." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 14.25.220(43) is amended to read: 05 (43) "year of service" means service, except for military and territorial 06 service, during the dates set for a school year; partial-year service credit is given for 07 membership and BIA service as follows: 08 (A) before July 1, 1969, during any school year, 09 (i) less than 20 days, no credit; 10 (ii) 20 days or more but less than 35 days, 0.2 years; 11 (iii) 35 days or more but less than 49 days, 0.3 years; 12 (iv) 49 days or more but less than 63 days, 0.4 years; 13 (v) 63 days or more but less than 77 days, 0.5 years; 14 (vi) 77 days or more but less than 91 days, 0.6 years;
01 (vii) 91 days or more but less than 105 days, 0.7 years; 02 (viii) 105 days or more but less than 119 days, 0.8 03 years; 04 (ix) 119 days or more but less than 133 days, 0.9 years; 05 (x) 133 days or more, 1.0 years; 06 (B) on or after July 1, 1969, during any school year, 07 (i) less than nine days, no credit; 08 (ii) nine days or more but less than 27 days, 0.1 years; 09 (iii) 27 days or more but less than 45 days, 0.2 years; 10 (iv) 45 days or more but less than 63 days, 0.3 years; 11 (v) 63 days or more but less than 81 days, 0.4 years; 12 (vi) 81 days or more but less than 100 days, 0.5 years; 13 (vii) 100 days or more but less than 118 days, 0.6 years; 14 (viii) 118 days or more but less than 136 days, 0.7 15 years; 16 (ix) 136 days or more but less than 154 days, 0.8 years; 17 (x) 154 days or more but less than 172 days, 0.9 years; 18 (xi) 172 days or more, 1.0 years; 19 (C) service performed on a part-time basis will be credited in 20 proportion to the amount of credit that would have been received for 21 service performed on a full-time basis [WITH ONE-HALF CREDIT FOR 22 EACH DAY OF SERVICE]. 23 * Sec. 2. A teacher who has not been appointed to retirement before the effective date of 24 this Act who has part-time credited service earned before the effective date of this Act may 25 request that the credited service earned for the part-time service be recalculated based on 26 AS 14.25.220(43)(C), as amended by sec. 1 of this Act.
