01 "An Act prohibiting waiver of tuition and fees for employees of the University                                          
02 of Alaska."                                                                                                             
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 14.40.170(b) is amended to read:                                                                  
05  (b)  The Board of Regents may                                                                                         
06   (1)  adopt reasonable rules, orders, and plans with reasonable penalties                                             
07 for the good government of the university and for the regulation of the Board of                                        
08 Regents;                                                                                                                
09   (2)  determine and regulate the course of instruction in the university                                              
10 with the advice of the president;                                                                                       
11   (3)  set student tuition and fees;  the board may not waive or reduce                                               
12 tuition or fees based on employment with the University of Alaska;                                                     
13   (4)  receive university receipts and, subject to legislative appropriation,                                          
14 expend university receipts in accordance with AS 37.07 (Executive Budget Act). ["]                                      

01    * Sec. 2.  APPLICABILITY.  This Act applies to tuition or fees due on or after the                                 
02 effective date of this Act.
