01 "An Act requiring the Department of Health and Social Services to provide notice                                        
02 to a community council on receipt of an application for a license to operate a                                          
03 certain kind of foster group home."                                                                                     
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
05    * Section 1.  AS 47.35 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
06  Sec. 47.35.018.  Notification to community council.   (a)  On receipt of an                                         
07 application for a license to operate a foster group home that would be located within                                   
08 the boundary of a community council established by municipal charter or ordinance,                                      
09 the department shall promptly provide written notice of the application to the                                          
10 community council.                                                                                                      
11  (b)  In this section, a "foster group home" means a foster home in which one                                          
12 or more foster parents would operate a group home that is authorized to care on a 24-                                   
13 hour basis for four or more children who are living apart from their parents.                                           
14    * Sec. 2.  APPLICABILITY.  This Act applies to applications received by the Department                             

01 of Health and Social Services on or after the effective date of this Act.
