00SPONSOR SUBSTITUTE FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 153                                                                             
01 "An Act relating to leave for certain state employees; and repealing terminal                                           
02 leave."                                                                                                                 
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 39.20.225 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
05  (d)  Accrued personal leave may be used to provide an officer or employee                                             
06 with a salary for days on which the officer or employee is taking personal leave or to                                  
07 make a donation under AS 39.20.245.  Accrued personal leave may not be converted                                        
08 to a cash value for payment to the officer or employee as an addition to the officer's                                  
09 or employee's salary.                                                                                                   
10    * Sec. 2.  AS 39.20.200(b), 39.20.245(a), and 39.20.250 are repealed.                                              
11    * Sec. 3.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section                            
12 to read:                                                                                                                
13  APPLICABILITY.  AS 39.20.225(d), enacted by sec. 1 of this Act, and the repeal of                                      
14 AS 39.20.250 made by sec. 2 of this Act, apply to leave earned beginning with the first pay                             

01 period that an employee works on or after the effective date of this Act.
