00HOUSE BILL NO. 37                                                                                                     
01 "An Act relating to smoking education and cessation programs administered by                                            
02 the Department of Health and Social Services."                                                                          
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 44.29.020(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
05  (a)  The Department of Health and Social Services shall administer the state                                          
06 programs of public health and social services, including                                                                
07   (1)  maternal and child health services;                                                                             
08   (2)  preventive medical services;                                                                                    
09   (3)  public health nursing services;                                                                                 
10   (4)  nutrition services;                                                                                             
11   (5)  health education , including smoking education and cessation                                                   
12 programs ;                                                                                                             
13   (6)  laboratories;                                                                                                   
14   (7)  mental health treatment and diagnosis;                                                                          



01   (8)  management of state institutions, except for adult penal institutions;                                          
02   (9)  medical facilities;                                                                                             
03   (10)  adult public assistance;                                                                                       
04   (11)  Alaska temporary assistance program;                                                                           
05   (12)  child welfare services;                                                                                        
06   (13)  general relief; and                                                                                            
07   (14)  licensing and supervision of child care facilities.
