01 "An Act relating to the provision of electric utility service."                                                         
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
03    * Section 1.  AS 42.05.221 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
04  (g)  To facilitate the establishment of pilot programs, electric utilities, power                                     
05 marketers, resellers, and aggregators may request the commission to issue orders                                        
06 necessary to enable the providing entity the use of the transmission and distribution                                   
07 facilities of a certificated electric utility for the provision of retail electric service if the                       
08 electric utility has more than 30 customers for each mile of distribution line.  The                                    
09 commission shall issue the orders requested within 30 days after receiving the request.                                 
10 A request under this subsection may include a request for interim refundable tariffs for                                
11 distribution access services.
