01 "An Act relating to the assignment to the Department of Labor of certain wage                                           
02 claims; and providing for an effective date."                                                                           
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 23.05.220(c) is amended to read:                                                                  
05  (c)  The department may not accept an assignment of a claim in excess of  the                                        
06 amount set out in AS 22.15.040 as the maximum amount, exclusive of costs,                                               
07 interest, and attorney fees, for the jurisdiction of the district court to hear an                                      
08 action as a small claim  [$5,000].                                                                                     
09    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect July 1, 1998.
