00SENATE BILL NO. 249 01 "An Act authorizing an advisory vote on whether the legislature should propose 02 amendments to the Constitution of the State of Alaska relating to the use of 03 income of the permanent fund; and providing for an effective date." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. The lieutenant governor shall place before the qualified voters of the state at 06 the next general election a question advisory to the legislature on whether the legislature 07 should pass a resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska 08 providing that income from the permanent fund shall be used for permanent fund dividends 09 and for offsetting the effect of inflation on the principal of the fund, and providing that any 10 balance of the income may be appropriated only to the principal of the permanent fund unless 11 an appropriation for another purpose is approved by the voters. The question shall appear on 12 the ballot in the following form: 13 Q U E S T I O N 14 Shall the legislature of the State of Alaska pass a resolution
01 proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of 02 Alaska providing that income from the permanent fund shall be 03 used for permanent fund dividends and for offsetting the effect 04 of inflation on the principal of the fund, and providing that any 05 balance of the income may be appropriated only to the principal 06 of the permanent fund unless an appropriation for another 07 purpose is approved by the voters? 08 Yes [ ] No [ ] 09 * Sec. 2.
