01 "An Act authorizing an advisory vote concerning partial-birth abortions."                                               
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
03    * Section 1.  ADVISORY VOTE ON PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION.  The lieutenant                                             
04 governor shall place before the qualified voters of the state at the next general election a                            
05 question advisory to the legislature as to whether the legislature should prohibit the                                  
06 performance of partial-birth abortions, as defined by the legislature, unless necessary to save                         
07 the life of the pregnant woman under circumstances defined by the legislature.  The question                            
08 shall appear on the ballot in the following form:                                                                       
09 Q U E S T I O N                                                                                                         
10 Shall partial-birth abortion be prohibited except                                                                    
11 when necessary to save the life of the pregnant                                                                         
12 woman?                                                                                                                  
13       Yes [  ]  No [  ]
