00CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 204(CRA) 01 "An Act providing the commissioner of natural resources with the authority to 02 make grants of state land to municipalities for the construction and operation of 03 sport and recreational facilities and structures." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 38.05.810 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 06 (j) The commissioner may grant undeveloped state land to a municipality for 07 the construction and operation of sport or recreational facilities or structures by the 08 municipality. Land granted under this subsection may be used to trade for other land 09 that is necessary for the construction and operation of a particular sport or recreational 10 facility or structure. The commissioner shall retain a reversionary interest on each 11 grant of land under this subsection, but if that land is traded for other land, the 12 commissioner may release the reversionary interest on the granted land when the 13 commissioner receives a reversionary interest on the land received in trade. Land 14 granted under this subsection, or land received in a trade for land granted under this
01 subsection, must be developed by the municipality for the sport or recreational 02 facilities and structures within four years of receipt of the grant. Land granted under 03 this subsection does not count against a municipality's general grant land entitlement 04 under AS 29.65.
