00SENATE BILL NO. 89 01 "An Act relating to regulation of barbers and hairdressers; extending the 02 termination date of the Board of Barbers and Hairdressers; and providing for an 03 effective date." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 08.03.010(c)(4) is amended to read: 06  (4) Board of Barbers and Hairdressers (AS 08.13.010) -- June 30, 2003 07 [1997]; 08 * Sec. 2. AS 08.13.010(b) is amended to read: 09  (b) The board consists of 10  (1) one person [TWO PERSONS] licensed as a barber [BARBERS] 11 under this chapter; 12  (2) two persons licensed as hairdressers under this chapter; [AND] 13  (3) one person licensed as a cosmetologist under this chapter; and 14  (4) one public member.

01 * Sec. 3. TRANSITIONAL PROVISION. Notwithstanding AS 08.13.010(b), as amended 02 by sec. 2 of this Act, the members of the Board of Barbers and Hairdressers who, on the 03 effective date of this Act, hold the positions on the board that are designated for barbers are 04 not prohibited by this Act from serving the remainder of their terms of office. When a seat 05 on the board designated for a barber becomes vacant, the governor shall appoint a 06 cosmetologist in order to implement this Act. 07 * Sec. 4. This Act takes effect July 1, 1997.
