00HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 62                                                                                         
01 Relating to bringing Balto back to Alaska.                                                                              
02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                              
03  WHEREAS Balto was the lead dog of the heroic dog team that brought desperately                                       
04 needed diphtheria serum to Nome in 1925, but the preserved Balto is now located in the                                  
05 Museum of Natural History in Cleveland, Ohio;                                                                           
06  BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature urges the Museum of Natural                                         
07 History in Cleveland, Ohio to return Balto to Alaska.                                                                   
08  A COPY of this resolution shall be sent to the director of the Museum of Natural                                     
09 History in Cleveland, Ohio.
