01 "An Act relating to correctional facilities."                                                                           
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
03    * Section 1.  AS 33.30.061 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
04  (c)  In designating a correctional facility to which a prisoner is to be committed                                    
05 under (a) of this section, the commissioner may designate a secure community-based                                      
06 correctional facility that provides greater security than community-based correctional                                  
07 facilities to which prisoners may be furloughed under AS 33.30.111.  While a prisoner                                   
08 is serving a term of imprisonment or period of temporary confinement in a secure                                        
09 community-based correctional facility, the prisoner                                                                     
10   (1)  may not leave the facility unless accompanied by a correctional                                                 
11 facility employee;                                                                                                      
12   (2)  shall participate in rehabilitation programs designated by the                                                  
13 department that are designed to enhance the prisoner's successful transition into the                                   
14 community.
