00CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 434(HES) 01 "An Act relating to the assessment of recipients of assistance under the Alaska 02 temporary assistance program for the use of alcohol and controlled substances and 03 compliance with recommendations of the assessment as a condition of the 04 recipient's family self-sufficiency plan; and providing for an effective date." 05 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 06 * Section 1. AS 47.27.030 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 07  (d) The department shall screen adult participants to identify barriers to family 08 self-sufficiency related to the use of alcohol or controlled substances. As a condition 09 of the plan, the department may refer the participant for assessment and require the 10 participant to comply with the recommendations of the assessment as a condition of 11 the family self-sufficiency plan. Assessments shall be conducted at a facility approved 12 under AS 47.37.140. 13 * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect July 1, 1999.
