01 "An Act requiring drug testing for applicants for and recipients of assistance                                          
02 under the Alaska temporary assistance program; and providing for an effective                                           
03 date."                                                                                                                  
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
05    * Section 1.  AS 47.27.015 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
06  (h)  A person is not eligible for assistance under the Alaska temporary                                               
07 assistance program if the person unlawfully uses a drug or refuses to be tested for drug                                
08 use by the department.  In this subsection, "drug" means a controlled substance, as                                     
09 defined in AS 11.71.900.                                                                                                
10    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect July 1, 1999.
