01 "An Act relating to civil liability resulting from the use of a defibrillator in                                        
02 providing emergency aid."                                                                                               
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 09.65.090(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
05  (a)  A person at a hospital or any other location who renders emergency  aid                                        
06 [CARE OR EMERGENCY COUNSELING] to an injured, ill, or emotionally                                                       
07 distraught person who reasonably appears to the person rendering the aid to be in                                       
08 immediate need of emergency aid in order to avoid serious harm or death is not liable                                   
09 for civil damages as a result of an act or omission in rendering emergency aid.   In this                              
10 subsection, "emergency aid" includes emergency care, emergency counseling, or                                           
11 the use of an automatic external defibrillator.
