01 "An Act requiring nonresident hunters to be accompanied when hunting moose;                                             
02 and providing for an effective date."                                                                                   
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 16.05.407(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
05  (a)  It is unlawful for a nonresident to hunt, pursue, or take brown bear, grizzly                                    
06 bear, mountain goat,  moose,  or sheep in this state [,] unless personally accompanied                                
07 by                                                                                                                      
08   (1)  a person who is licensed as a registered guide, master guide,                                                   
09 class-A assistant guide, or [AN] assistant guide under AS 08.54; or                                                     
10   (2)  a resident over 19 years of age who is                                                                          
11   (A)  the spouse of the nonresident; or                                                                              
12   (B)  related to the nonresident, within and including the second                                                    
13 degree of kindred, by marriage or blood.                                                                                
14    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect January 1, 1999.
