01 "An Act relating to deferral of certain municipal assessment payments."                                                 
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
03    * Section 1.  AS 29.46.020 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
04  (d)  A municipality may by ordinance provide for deferral of payment of all or                                        
05 part of the assessments on real property owned and occupied as the primary residence                                    
06 and permanent place of abode by a resident who is elderly or economically                                               
07 disadvantaged as determined under criteria established in the ordinance.  The                                           
08 assessment becomes due when the property ceases to be owned by the resident who                                         
09 qualified for the deferral.
