01 "An Act relating to certain inspections of residential wastewater and sewage                                            
02 disposal systems; and providing for an effective date."                                                                 
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 08.48 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
05  Sec. 08.48.253.  Acting as a public health authority.  A professional engineer                                      
06 may act as a public health authority for the purpose of inspecting or certifying the                                    
07 inspection of an on-site residential wastewater or sewage disposal system if the                                        
08 purpose of the inspection is to determine whether the system complies with public                                       
09 health requirements so that a loan on the residence can be obtained from a lender.                                      
10    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
