01 "An Act requiring a waiting period before the performance of an abortion."                                              
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 18.16 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                   
04  Sec. 18.16.100.  Waiting period before abortion.  (a)  A physician may not                                            
05 perform an abortion on a woman until the fourth calendar day after the day on which                                     
06 the woman first consulted the physician in person in the physician's office about                                       
07 performance of the abortion unless, in the physician's judgment as certified in the                                     
08 woman's medical records, the woman's health is threatened to a level of concern for                                     
09 the woman's life by the delay in performing the abortion.                                                               
10  (b)  A physician who knowingly violates this section is guilty of a class C                                           
11 felony.
