00HOUSE BILL NO. 260 01 "An Act relating to the boundaries of the North Slope Borough, to regional 02 educational attendance areas for land detached from the North Slope Borough, 03 and to payment of certain bonded debt of the North Slope Borough; and 04 providing for an effective date." 05 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 06 * Section 1. BOUNDARIES OF THE NORTH SLOPE BOROUGH. (a) On July 1, 1998, 07 land within the North Slope Borough that is owned by the state or federal government is 08 detached from the borough and included in the unorganized borough. 09 (b) The Department of Community and Regional Affairs, in consultation with the 10 Department of Education, shall provide for the inclusion by July 1, 1998, of all of the land 11 detached from the North Slope Borough under (a) of this section into one or more existing 12 regional educational attendance areas. The Department of Community and Regional Affairs 13 shall provide assistance to the North Slope Borough and to other state agencies to carry out 14 the requirement of (a) of this section.
01 * Sec. 2. STATE PAYMENT OF CERTAIN BONDED DEBT. (a) The state shall pay 02 the principal, interest, and redemption premium on outstanding general obligation bonds issued 03 by the North Slope Borough before January 1, 1997. 04 (b) The state bond committee shall annually request an appropriation of the amount 05 necessary to make all required payments under this section. Subject to appropriations for the 06 purpose, the state bond committee shall make payments under this section when the payments 07 are due. 08 * Sec. 3. Section 1 of this Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c). 09 * Sec. 4. Section 2 of this Act takes effect July 1, 1998.
