01 "An Act relating to funding for charter schools."                                                                       
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 14.03.260 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                            
04  (d)  In addition to the program budget calculated under (a) of this section, the                                      
05 local school board may request from the department funds necessary to pay the                                           
06 expenses of housing nonresident students who attend the charter school, including                                       
07 room, board, and other reasonable housing expenses.  The department's annual budget                                     
08 request must include funding for the expenses of housing nonresident students who                                       
09 attend a charter school, including room, board, and other reasonable housing expenses.
