01 "An Act relating to commercial motor vehicle inspections; and providing for an                                          
02 effective date."                                                                                                        
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 28.32.010(a) is amended to read:                                                                    
05  (a)  A commercial motor vehicle may not be operated [AFTER JANUARY 1,                                                 
06 1986] without a certificate of inspection.  An owner of a commercial motor vehicle                                      
07 shall renew a certificate of inspection at least annually [SEMI-ANNUALLY] at an                                       
08 official inspection station under AS 28.32.030.  The owner may renew a certificate of                                   
09 inspection at any time during the office hours of the inspection station.  An owner of                                  
10 a commercial motor vehicle shall display a current sticker of inspection visible from                                   
11 outside the vehicle in a location determined by the division.                                                           
12    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect July 1, 1997.
