01 "An Act relating to impairment rating guides used in evaluation of certain                                              
02 workers' compensation claims."                                                                                          
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 23.30.190(b) is amended to read:                                                                    
05  (b)  All determinations of the existence and degree of permanent impairment                                           
06 shall be made strictly and solely under the whole person determination as set out in                                    
07 the most recently published edition of the American Medical Association Guides to                                     
08 the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, except that an impairment rating may not be                                     
09 rounded to the next five percent. When a new edition of the American Medical                                           
10 Association Guides is published, the board shall begin using the new edition not                                        
11 later than 90 days after the date of publication.  The board shall adopt a                                             
12 supplementary recognized schedule for injuries that cannot be rated by use of the                                       
13 American Medical Association Guides.
