01 "An Act relating to snow machine classics."                                                                             
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 05.15.100(a) is amended to read:                                                                    
04  (a)  The department may issue a permit to a municipality or qualified                                                 
05 organization.  The permit gives the municipality or qualified organization the privilege                                
06 of conducting bingo, raffles and lotteries, pull-tab games, ice classics, rain classics,                                
07 goose classics, mercury classics, snow machine classics, canned salmon classics,                                      
08 salmon classics, king salmon classics, dog mushers' contests, fish derbies, and contests                                
09 of skill.                                                                                                               
10    * Sec. 2.  AS 05.15.115(c) is amended to read:                                                                       
11  (c) A permittee may not contract with more than one operator at a time to                                             
12 conduct the same type of activity.  For the purposes of this subsection, bingo games,                                   
13 raffles, lotteries, pull-tab games, ice classics, rain classics, goose classics, mercury                                
14 classics, snow machine classics, canned salmon classics, salmon classics, king salmon                                 

01 classics, dog mushers' contests, fish derbies, contests of skill, and all activities                                    
02 permitted under AS 05.15.100(b) are each a different type of activity.                                                  
03    * Sec. 3.  AS 05.15.180(b) is amended to read:                                                                       
04  (b)  With the exception of raffles, lotteries, bingo games, pull-tab games, rain                                      
05 classics, goose classics, mercury classics, snow machine classics, canned salmon                                      
06 classics, salmon classics, king salmon classics, and other activities authorized under                                  
07 AS 05.15.100(b), an activity may not be licensed under this chapter unless it existed                                   
08 in the state in substantially the same form and was conducted in substantially the same                                 
09 manner before January 1, 1959.                                                                                          
10    * Sec. 4.  AS 05.15.690 is amended by adding a new paragraph to read:                                                
11   (42)  "snow machine classic" means a                                                                                 
12   (A)  contest in which prizes are awarded for the correct guess                                                      
13 of the racing time of a snow machine or of the snow machine's position in the                                           
14 race, including prizes to the race contestants; or                                                                     
15   (B)  a game of chance where a prize of money is awarded for                                                        
16 the closest guess or guesses of at least three elements of uncertainty about a                                          
17 snow machine race that cannot be determined before the commencement of the                                              
18 race.
