00SENATE BILL NO. 166 am 01 "An Act relating to the date by which a borough school board is required to 02 submit a school budget to the borough assembly and the date by which the 03 borough assembly is required to appropriate money from local sources for public 04 schools; and providing for an effective date." 05 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 06 * Section 1. AS 14.14.060(c) is amended to read: 07 (c) Except as otherwise provided by municipal ordinance, the [THE] 08 borough school board shall submit the school budget for the following school year to 09 the borough assembly by May 1 [APRIL 1] for approval of the total amount. Within 10 30 days after receipt of the budget the assembly shall determine the total amount of 11 money to be made available from local sources for school purposes and shall furnish 12 the school board with a statement of the sum to be made available. If the assembly 13 does not, within 30 days, furnish the school board with a statement of the sum to be 14 made available, the amount requested in the budget is automatically approved. Except
01 as otherwise provided by municipal ordinance, by June 30 [BY MAY 31], the 02 assembly shall appropriate the amount to be made available from local sources from 03 money available for the purpose. 04 * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
