01 "An Act relating to payment of costs and attorney fees in a class action filed                                          
02 against the state; and providing for an effective date."                                                                
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 09.50.280 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                            
05  (b)  Notwithstanding any other provision of law, if judgment is entered against                                       
06 the state in a class action, the court may not require the state to pay costs or attorney                               
07 fees incurred in bringing the class action.                                                                             
08    * Sec. 2.  APPLICABILITY.  This Act applies to a class action that accrues on or after the                           
09 effective date of this Act.                                                                                             
10    * Sec. 3.   This Act takes effect July 1, 1995.
