00SENATE BILL NO. 44 01 "An Act relating to access to the services or programs of the Pioneers' Home 02 for an individual with a disability." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. FINDINGS. The Alaska Pioneers' Home program is a unique and 05 important state program for those who built Alaska to which all eligible Alaskans, 06 including those with disabilities, should have equal access. 07 * Sec. 2. AS 47.55.010 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 08 (e) A qualified individual with a disability may not, by reason of the 09 disability, be denied an opportunity to participate in the services or programs of 10 the Pioneers' Home on an equal basis with others. For purposes of this 11 subsection, "individual with a disability" means an individual who 12 (1) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one 13 or more of the major life activities of an individual; 14 (2) has a record of an impairment described under (1) of this
01 subsection; or 02 (3) is regarded as having an impairment described under (1) of this 03 subsection.
