00SENATE BILL NO. 21                                                                                                      
01 "An Act relating to penalties for violations of commercial fishing laws."                                               
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 16.05.722(a) is amended to read:                                                                    
04  (a)  A person who without any culpable mental state violates AS 16.05.440 -                                           
05 16.05.690, or a regulation of the Board of Fisheries or the department governing                                        
06 commercial fishing, is guilty of a violation and upon conviction is punishable by a fine                                
07 of not more than                                                                                                        
08   (1)  $6,000 [$3,000] for a first conviction; and                                                                   
09   (2)  $12,000 [$6,000] for a second or subsequent conviction.
