00HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 3                                                                                       
01 Relating to correcting errors in a workers' compensation pamphlet published by                                          
02 the Department of Labor.                                                                                                
03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04  WHEREAS the division of workers' compensation within the Alaska Department                                             
05 of Labor performs essential duties relating to claims from injured workers across the                                   
06 state; and                                                                                                              
07  WHEREAS workers' compensation claims benefit thousands of employees across                                             
08 the state; and                                                                                                          
09  WHEREAS  claims for insured compensation and insurance premiums result in                                              
10 expenditure of  millions of dollars in the state each year; and                                                         
11  WHEREAS it is crucial that employees and employers have current and accurate                                           
12 information from the division of workers' compensation in order to file and defend                                      
13 claims; and                                                                                                             
14  WHEREAS the division of workers' compensation has prepared a pamphlet to                                               

01 assist both employees and employers in understanding and using the workers'                                             
02 compensation system; and                                                                                                
03  WHEREAS  both employees and employers rely on information published by the                                             
04 division of workers' compensation in the workers' compensation pamphlet; and                                            
05  WHEREAS  the most recent edition of  this workers' compensation pamphlet                                               
06 contains errors and inconsistencies, particularly regarding requirements of the American                                
07 with Disabilities Act;                                                                                                  
08  BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature respectfully requests the                                             
09 Governor to direct the commissioner of labor to correct the errors and inconsistencies                                  
10 in the workers' compensation pamphlet through an erratum insert and upon the next                                       
11 publication.
