01 "An Act relating to matching funds requirements for municipal school construction                                       
02 grants."                                                                                                                
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 14.11.008 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                            
05  (f)  Notwithstanding (a) and (b) of this section, a municipal school district is                                      
06 not required to provide a participating share as required under (b) of this section if the                              
07 unemployment rate in the municipality averaged at least 10 percent in the fiscal year                                   
08 immediately before the fiscal year in which the appropriation bill funding the grant to                                 
09 the municipality is passed by the legislature.  A municipal school district seeking a                                   
10 participating share exemption as provided under this subsection shall provide proof                                     
11 satisfactory to the department of the unemployment rate in the municipality.                                            
12    * Sec. 2.  This Act applies to a school construction grant received by a municipal school                            
13 district on or after the effective date of this Act.
