01 "An Act relating to certain inspections of residential wastewater and sewage                                            
02 disposal systems; and providing for an effective date."                                                                 
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 08.48 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                   
05  Sec. 08.48.253.  ACTING AS A PUBLIC HEALTH AUTHORITY.  A                                                              
06 professional engineer may act as a public health authority for the purpose of inspecting                                
07 or certifying the inspection of an on-site residential wastewater or sewage disposal                                    
08 system if the purpose of the inspection is to determine whether the system complies                                     
09 with public health requirements so that a loan on the residence can be obtained from                                    
10 a lender.                                                                                                               
11    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
