00HOUSE BILL NO. 215 am 01 "An Act relating to suspension of a student from a public school." 02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 * Section 1. AS 14.30.045 is amended to read: 04  Sec. 14.30.045. GROUNDS FOR SUSPENSION OR DENIAL OF 05 ADMISSION. A school age child may be suspended from or denied admission to the 06 public school that the child is otherwise entitled to attend only for the following 07 causes: 08  (1) continued wilful disobedience or open and persistent defiance of 09 reasonable school authority; 10  (2) behavior that is inimicable to the welfare, safety, or morals of other 11 pupils or a person employed or volunteering at the school; 12  (3) a physical or mental condition that in the opinion of a competent 13 medical authority will render the child unable to reasonably benefit from the programs 14 available;

01  (4) a physical or mental condition that in the opinion of a competent 02 medical authority will cause the attendance of the child to be inimicable to the welfare 03 of other pupils; 04  (5) conviction of a felony that the governing body of the district 05 determines will cause the attendance of the child to be inimicable to the welfare or 06 education of other pupils.
